Built to Move. Built to Last.

Questions before you start? Good.

Here are the ones I get asked most. If yours isn't here, ask me on the call — that's what it's for.

Common questions
Getting started
Is this right for me?

If you want to move well, get genuinely strong, and stay that way, then probably yes. If you're after a quick fix or a crash program, I'm honestly not the right coach for you. The free call is the easiest way to find out — no pressure either way.

What if I'm completely new to training?

That's a great place to start, and a lot of my clients begin exactly there. You don't need to be fit, flexible, or experienced — we start with the basics and how you move, and build from there. Wherever you're starting is the right place to start.

What if I don't know which option to choose?

Totally normal — most people don't at first. Tell me your situation on the call and I'll tell you honestly where I'd start, even if that's the more affordable option, or even if it's "not yet." You won't get a sales pitch.

How do I actually get started?

We start with a free 15-minute call. We talk through your goals, a bit of your history, and anything you're wondering about, and we figure out whether we're a fit. If we are, we book your first session.

Your first session & how training works
What's the first session like?

It's a consultation and a movement assessment. We sit down and go through your health history, your goals, and what your week looks like — then I watch how you move. None of it is a test. It just shows me where to start.

What should I bring to my first session?

Comfortable clothes you can move in, water, and anything I should know about your health or past injuries. If I've sent forms ahead, bring those filled in. That's it.

How often will I train?

It depends on your goals, your schedule, and how well you recover — for most people it's two to four times a week. We'll land on what's actually realistic for you. Consistency matters far more than doing a lot.

How soon will I see results?

Honestly, it depends — on where you're starting, and on your sleep, nutrition, and consistency as much as the training itself. Some things come quickly: moving better, feeling more capable, more confidence. Real strength builds over months. I care more about change that lasts than change that's fast.

Pain, injuries & health
What if I have pain or an injury?

Tell me on the call. I can coach around a lot, and a big part of my job is not making anything worse. But I'm not a physiotherapist or a doctor — I don't diagnose or treat injuries. If something needs medical attention, I'll tell you, and I'm glad to work alongside your practitioner.

Do I need a doctor's clearance to start?

Sometimes. Everyone fills out a short health screening first (the PAR-Q+). If your answers flag anything, we sort out clearance before we begin — and I'll walk you through exactly what's needed. Usually it's straightforward.

Online coaching
How does online coaching work?

You get a program built for you in an app, a check-in every two weeks, video review of your lifts, progress reviews, and messaging support in between. You train on your own schedule, and I keep it on track and adjust as you go.

Do I need my own gym or equipment for online coaching?

Some access helps, but I build your program around what you've actually got — whether that's a full gym or a simple home setup. We'll figure out what you need on the call, before you commit to anything.

Is online coaching as good as in-person?

It's different, not lesser. In-person gets you hands-on technique work and your gym membership included. Online gets you structure, accountability, and the freedom to train anywhere. Which one is "better" really depends on how you like to train and where you are.

The practical details
Where do sessions take place — and is gym membership included?

The Strength Edge, here in Calgary. For in-person coaching (Essential and Performance), your membership there is included — there's no separate gym fee.

Is nutrition included?

Yes — practical, sustainable nutrition guidance, built around your life, is part of your coaching. To be clear, it's coaching, not a strict meal plan or dietitian-level medical nutrition. If you ever need that, I'll point you in the right direction.

Can I change coaching options later?

Yes. As you progress, or as life changes, we can move you up or down. Just talk to me — nothing's locked in.

Why is there a three-month minimum?

Because real change needs a bit of runway. Three months is enough to build something you'll actually feel and keep — not just a few good workouts. It's a commitment to the process, not a long contract.

What happens after the first three months?

You simply continue month to month. There's no long-term contract after the initial term — either of us can end things with a couple of weeks' notice.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

Just give me 24 hours' notice and we'll find another time. Sessions don't roll over month to month, but if something significant comes up, talk to me — we'll sort out something fair.

Still wondering
