The thinking

Why the process matters.

Most training starts with a workout. I start by understanding you — your goals, your history, and how you actually move.

No two people move the same, so a plan that isn't built on that is really just a guess. The time we spend getting it right at the start is what makes everything after it work — and last.

The process

01

A free 15-minute call.

When you reach out, we start with a short call. We talk through what you're working toward, a little of your history, and anything you're wondering about.

No pressure and no pitch — it's how we both figure out whether we're the right fit. If we are, we book your first session.

02

Consultation & movement assessment.

Your first session is where I get the full picture. We sit down and go through your health history, your goals, and what your week actually looks like.

Then I watch how you move — the basic patterns like squatting, hinging, pushing and pulling, along with your mobility and balance. None of it is a test. It shows me where to start and what to build first.

You don't need to be fit, flexible, or experienced for this. Wherever you're starting is the right place to start.

03

Your personalized program.

From there, I build your program — around your goals, your schedule, and what I saw in your assessment.

We start with how you move, then add load once it's ready. Every exercise has a purpose, and I'll always tell you what it is. It's your plan, not a template.

04

Ongoing coaching.

Then we get to work. Every session, we check in, warm up, train, and sharpen your technique — and you'll leave knowing a little more than you did walking in.

In person or online, the standard is the same: real coaching, not just counting reps.

05

Progress reviews.

Every four to eight weeks, we step back and take stock — what's improved, what's getting in the way, and what to adjust next.

It's a short, honest conversation, not a test. It's how the plan keeps fitting you as you change — and how small, steady progress adds up over time.

Before we begin

A few things people ask.

What if I'm completely new to training?

That's a great place to start, and a lot of my clients begin exactly there. You don't need to be fit, flexible, or experienced — we start with the basics and how you move, and build from there. Wherever you're starting is the right place to start.

What should I bring to my first session?

Comfortable clothes you can move in, water, and anything I should know about your health or past injuries. If I've sent forms ahead, bring those filled in. That's it.

What if I have pain or an injury?

Tell me on the call. I can coach around a lot, and a big part of my job is not making anything worse. But I'm not a physiotherapist or a doctor — I don't diagnose or treat injuries. If something needs medical attention, I'll tell you, and I'm glad to work alongside your practitioner.

Do I need a doctor's clearance to start?

Sometimes. Everyone fills out a short health screening first (the PAR-Q+). If your answers flag anything, we sort out clearance before we begin — and I'll walk you through exactly what's needed. Usually it's straightforward.
